How can we connect the Global Goals?

In September, the UN and the member states adopted the Sustainable Development Goals, the Global Goals. The on-going development of information and communication technologies plays an important role in order for the objectives to be achieved. A growing proportion of the world population is currently online, and in Africa in particular, new and innovative solutions are being created with the help of new technology.

Despite this, the digital divide remains enormous. Another key issue is democracy and participation. New technology can help reduce corruption and increase transparency, but technology also makes it easier for states to monitor its citizens.

The opportunities but also the risks associated with the rapid technological developments in information and communication is the focus of this year's final Global Bar, organised within the framework of the European Year of Development (# EYD2015) and in cooperation with iHub Research in Nairobi.

If you can't join us, watch the discussion live at Bambuser.
